Welcome to our P&C!
In Queensland state schools, there is a parent body called the Parents and Citizens Association.
Commonly called 'the P&C', this association is a group of parents, carers and members of the community who work together to make a difference to the school and local area. Sometimes called 'PTA' or 'P&F' in other school systems, a Queensland P&C does not have a governance role or involvement in day-to-day matters, but does provide important advice to the Principal, who in turns consults the P&C for advice on many matters.
At Tannum Sands State High School, our P&C facilitates the development and further improvement of Tannum Sands State High School e.g. policies, facilities and special programs. The P&C also promotes parent participation and encourages close cooperation between parents/carers, students and staff.
Our P&C offers support to the Principal, staff and student body, and gives advice on a wide range of school issues and operations. At our monthly meetings, the Principal presents an insightful Principal’s Report. You can see examples elsewhere on this P&C webpage.
At Tannum Sands State High School, the P&C also runs a uniform shop and canteen (staffed by both volunteers and paid employees of the P&C). QKR is an app to download, pay and preorder lunches. Canteen Menu. Uniforms can also be ordered and paid for through the Qkr app. Proceeds from the Canteen and Uniform shop and our voluntary parent levy means we can purchase many wish-list items the school couldn't ordinarily afford. P&C fundraiser levy is also paid through our QKR app.
Our P&C Association is also a member of the peak body, P&Cs Qld. Becoming involved in our P&C will not only help advance the above, it will also provide each member the opportunity to develop a range of personal skills.
We aim to have as many people as possible involved in the P&C, as all help and support goes a long way towards creating the futures of all students at Tannum Sands State High School.
All parents/carers are invited to become members of the P&C and any time or input, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Our P&C meets generally on the second Thursday of the month during the school term, at 6.30pm in HE11 (Home-Ec Block). Everyone welcome!
